Swift arrives at Solent Sky

Supermarine Swift F7 XF114 arrived at the Solent Sky museum in Southampton on 7 June. The sole remaining complete example of the mark, it has been owned by Solent Sky since its sale by Jonathon Whaley in the early 2000s. Registered G-SWIF, there had been plans on the part of Jonathon and previous owner Jet Heritage to return the aircraft to flying condition, but these were eventually abandoned. Following acquisition by Solent Sky, the Swift was stored at an off-site location, but it has now been moved to the museum’s main premises.

XF114 has now, in the museum’s words, gone on ‘limited display’, but much work will be required to fully restore and properly exhibit the airframe. If you may be able to assist, e-mail aviation@spitfireonline.co.uk.
